The Third Annual Ghawazee.com Carnival of Stars is pleased to announce our panel members and topic of discussion. Our participants Dahlena, Jihan Jamal, Shareen el Safy, and Shira will bediscussing the issue of professionalism in  the field of Belly Dance.
   They will touch on such topics as the elements that make a dancer a professional, as well as the level of professionality in our field as perceived by ourselves and the general public.
   This should be a lively discussion with enough elements of controversy tokeep us engaged and cause further personal reflection on this topic.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT VIDEO TAPING AT GHAWAZEE.COM     At this point, Ghawazee.com is not planning to hire a videographer. Video taping has become a problem in the belly dance world.  There are new small digital cameras that take 3 minutes of video or more and tiny video cameras. So we have a dilemma about what to do at our festival.  We tried to hired a video people but they were too expensive and they kept going up on the price. We don't want to be the police of the belly dance video world, not to mention    getting the tapes out and having to charge for them.  What if they don't come out right? We have all experienced that. So we have decided to just let the dance companies and solo dancers bring their own video person and video their personal shows. We will announce before each performance: No video taping except for that company's or solo dancer's official video person designated by each individual or group.  We will not tell the public about this and hope that the dancers and people performing will respect this decision.  We will provide an ideal viewing place from which your video person can film your performance.  This way you will not have to pay us for your video and we will not have to go through all this trouble. If this situation should change, we will give you timely notice.  We welcome your suggestions or information regarding video that will help us all.
